Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

inflationcalculator.app is run by Kyle, an individual ("I," "me"). This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, who collects it, and what you can do about it. In short: there are no accounts or forms, and what you type into the calculators stays in your browser. Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads, and Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes request data to deliver and protect it.

What you enter in the calculators

The calculators run in your browser. The amounts and years you enter are not sent to me or stored. The one exception is a link that has the values in its address (for example /inflation?amount=100&from=1990&to=2020) or a request to the API: like any web address you open, it reaches Cloudflare as part of the request.

Hosting: Cloudflare

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers, and every request passes through Cloudflare's network, which also protects the site from abuse. To do that, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser's user agent, the referring page, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy. The site's own code does not log requests. If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor is a person rather than a bot, it may set a short-lived security cookie.

Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare adds to each page as a small script. It does not use cookies or local storage and does not track you across sites. It reports aggregate figures: page views, which pages are visited, referring sites, country, and browser and device type. The site does not use Google Analytics.

What I can see, and for how long

Through Cloudflare's dashboard and API, I can see request-level traffic data (time, page, IP address, country, user agent, and response status). On the plan this site uses, Cloudflare keeps that data for 31 days.

Because that data expires, I keep a private archive of the site's daily traffic so I can follow long-term trends and see which search engines and AI crawlers visit. For ordinary visitors, the archive records the time, page, referring site, user agent, and country, but not the IP address. IP addresses are kept only for automated clients, such as search and AI crawlers, scripts, and other bots, identified by Cloudflare or by their user agent, so that I can tell which company or tool a crawler belongs to. The archive has no set deletion date.

Advertising: Google AdSense

The site shows ads served by Google AdSense, which pays for it. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google may also use cookies and similar technologies to measure ads and to detect fraud.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can opt out of other third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices, or, in the European Union, at www.youronlinechoices.eu. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser also stops personalized ads.

Google explains what it collects in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Cookies and local storage

The site itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Cookies you may see come from Google's ad services, described above, and possibly from Cloudflare's security checks. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google shows a consent message before using cookies for ads; Google stores your choice, and you can change it from the privacy settings link its message adds to the page.

Email

If you email contact@inflationcalculator.app, the message is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to my personal inbox. I use your address and message only to reply and to act on what you reported, and I don't add you to any list. Ask me and I'll delete the conversation.

Sharing and selling

I don't sell personal information, and I don't share it with anyone beyond the services described here (Cloudflare for hosting and analytics, Google for advertising), except where required by law.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, email me and I'll delete it.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. The data I hold myself, the traffic archive and email, is kept for my legitimate interests in running, securing, and understanding the site and in answering you.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. I don't sell personal information for money. Google's personalized ad cookies may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out of that with the Ads Settings and opt-out links above or by blocking third-party cookies.

Most of the data described on this page is held by Cloudflare and Google, and their policies explain how to make requests to them. For anything I hold, email me.

Pages link to data sources and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own; check their policies.
